The Middlewich Concert Orchestra (MCO) comprises musicians of all ages and professional backgrounds. While some members are or have been professional players and/or teachers, the majority of members are keen "amateurs", who enjoy a common interest in playing a wide variety of musical genres.
We are always happy to hear from anyone who plays a musical instrument from the usual orchestral repertoire and is interested in playing with us. In particular, there are currently a number of vacancies in the Orchestra for string players of all instruments.
The Orchestra is a member of Making Music, formerly the National Federation of Music Societies.

Narrator: Roger Ashton-Griffiths
Roger Ashton-Griffiths — the actor who played Lord Mace Tyrell in HBO’s mega-hit Game of Thrones — is coming to Middlewich for a special ‘one night only’ performance as the Narrator in Peter and the Wolf.
Roger Ashton-Griffiths appeared in Game of Thrones for three whole seasons and has also been in a huge number of TV and movie hits, including Martin Scorcese’s Gangs of New York, A Knight’s Tale, Grace of Monaco (where he played Alfred Hitchcock opposite Nicole Kidman’s Grace Kelly) and Mike Leigh’s film Mr Turner; plus TV favourites Dr Who, Coronation Street and Father Brown.
Written for children but enjoyable for all ages, Russian composer Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf is a fairy tale for orchestra and storyteller. The concert also includes music from another fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel plus the most famous music by Beethoven – the piece that starts “dah dah dah Daaah!” – Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.
There are a number of vacancies in the Orchestra for string players of all instruments. If you are a string player and live within a commutable distance of Middlewich, you will be most welcome to join us.
